WHISKEY RECOMMENDATION
There’s two schools of thought here.
1- go with an inexpensive spirit since you are mixing
2- price be damned, choose a spirit you like.
I tend to fall into the second camp most often, but honestly, when it comes to cocktails (and life) you do you. There’s no judgement here! Personally, I really like Hibiki. I’m also a fan of the Nikka Coffee whiskey (the word coffee here refers to the still, not the caffinated beverage). But both of those bottles might be pricey for mixing. If your philosophically aligned with the first point, then I’d recommend the Suntory Toki. And if you’re feeling like really blending cultures and flavors (which I always encourage), you can even try and Irish whisky here. I personally think that Irish whiskies are much closer in flavor and mouthfeel to Japanese Whiskey than American Bourbon or Rye.
How to Use Yuzu Syrup:
Yuzu Syrup is a precision flavor tool. Use it to introduce acidity, aroma, and layered citrus complexity without adding fresh juice variability.
Cocktails: Elevates margaritas, highballs, spritzes, sours, and tiki drinks
Non-Alcoholic: Exceptional in sparkling water, lemonades, iced teas, and craft sodas
Culinary: Drizzle into vinaigrettes, glazes, marinades, desserts, or fruit preparations
